DakhaBrakha at Mayne Stage 08/24

The theatrical cult phenomenon DakhaBrakha, a quartet of multi-instrumentalists from Kiev, draws on Ukrainian folk melodies and rhythms. DakhaBrakha’s music is cutting-edge yet deeply imbued with tradition. Three young women, clad in wedding dresses and tall Cossack-style hats, sing in soaring, vibrato-less voices while accompanied by accordion, drums, and cello, as well as by the sole male instrumentalist, who also contributes a high vocal lead. Visually striking and sonically mesmerizing. “…so mesmerizing that you cease worrying about meaning and just go with the flow…” The Guardian (UK)

6pm & 8pm Mayne Stage.
