An exhilarating night of Afro-Cuban dance and music! Founded in 2010, by Victor Alexander Director of a Ruth Page School of Dance and Daniel Lopez, Orisha Dance Chicago is committed to promoting Cuban dance and music throughout the Greater Chicago community. Artstic Director, Victor Ramirez is a Cuban born professional dancer who trained at the prestigious National Dance School in Havana and was a principal dancer with the National Contemporary Dance Company of Cuba before immigrating to the U.S. where his professional dance career continues. Through the Performance Company and ongoing community classes of Orisha Dance Chicago, Victor and ODC continue to share the fundamentals of music and dance forms from Cuba including Orisha, Palo, Arara and Rumba. Each of these traditions has strong spiritual, cultural and linguistic connections to their West African origins – Nigeria and Congo.
