Older Than Ireland Screening at Chicago Irish Film Festival(ends 06/15)

This year marks the centenary of the Easter Rising of 1916 that led to the birth of the Republic of Ireland—and all of the people featured in Older Than Ireland were born before then. This funny and heartwarming documentary reveals a hundred years of a life as seen through the eyes of thirty Irish centenarians. Directed by Alex Fegan (The Irish Pub) and produced by Garry Walsh, the award-winning film is full of wonderful stories. Reflecting on such key events as the day they got their first pair of shoes, the thrill of their first kiss, from the magic of their wedding day to the tragic loss of their loved ones, these centenarians have lived through it all. Having witnessed a century of immense social, political and technological change each centenarian has a unique perspective on life and its true meaning. They are Ireland’s living history—part of a nation of warm people with a rich and ancient culture, humble and reserved, yet ready to tell their stories to those who are willing to listen. In English with English subtitles.
